Presenting: Dave Ja Vu Photography!

I have forever pondered starting my own photography business since my days at the Wauneta Breeze and McCook Gazette. Since moving here, it's always been something Amy and I talked about but figured the equipment would be too expensive for us to purchase and had no idea how to start out. Well, lo and behold, the opportunity arose for me to purchase a ton of equipment from a local photographer selling her business. We jumped at the opportunity and are beginning our foray into our own business. My dream is to someday do this full-time (after I re-perfect the technical aspect and get a good clientele of course), so I won't be quitting my day job...yet...

I finally put the finishing touches on my website thanks to the long weekend and would like you to visit: Dave Ja Vu Photo. Let me know what you think. This week, I'll be putting the finishing touches on a direct mail piece giving friends and family a nice discount for September and October (hint, hint...just in time for holiday photos)!
First though, visit the website and tell me what you think. There's a slideshow feature on one of the pages. When you get there, click on "Click Here To View A Slideshow" and see some of my work! I'll be finishing a blog too here soon for the biz, so I'll keep you updated on that too.

And thanks to the Jones Family, Adriana Melgoza and Jack for being good subjects for me. And to Amy for being patient as I toil away in the office.

Fetus Prediction

Our friends Nate and Kimi will be finding out this week what flavor of baby they're having, so I thought I'd just save them a bit of trouble and let them know I believe it is a girl this time around. Start picking out some good girl names, kidz, because Johnny's getting a sister!

(I will say that this prediction is disagreed upon and bet against by our friend Jay, so if I'm right--which duh, I am--I'll relish in the fact that I can say 'neener neener neener' as I collect my winnings!)

Stay tuned for our big announcement to be announced before the end of Labor Day weekend! And again, we're not expecting!

Jonesin' For Some Jack?

Yeah, we get it folks. You've missed this little guy like the dickens lately. Sorry for the delay in posts. Between being extremely biz and not having the best internet (for the rec, don't ever get Alltel Wireless if you're pondering that), we've been bad, bad bloggers.
Grandma and Grandpa V were here recently and luckily Uncle Joe and Aunt Sarah sent some COTC with them for us to enjoy. And enjoy it Jack mos def did. He chowed the entire thing down to nothing. And his dad, like a weiner, cut all of his own off the cob so it wouldn't get stuck in his gums and teeth.
Thanks, Broseph and Sarah Janie (and Peytie and baby V too)!
Our buddies Josh, Sarah, Ella and Brenna came over one night for dinner. It was a lot of fun and we caught the last eppy of "So You Think You Can Dance Real Good, Huh? We'll See About That!" At one point, Jack fell off something and blamed it on Josh. It was kinda redick, but I think he was more mad at Josh because he didn't catch him.
Jack, your shirt is saying one thing and your actions are saying quite the opps.
This was weeks ago, but we had Gramps and Grams here for an entire weekend. We had a great time (as per uszh). Here we are at the petting zoo at the county fair. We went over to enjoy all that the fair has to offer: animals, carnival rides, 4-H exhibees, funnel cakes, Motley Crue mirrors, etc... Well, when we got there it was drizzly so we went to the indoor petting zoo first. By the time we got done, it was very rainy, so we went home. It was not a total loss though 'cuz we got to see a lot of animals.
Chicks dig these guys.
The night before we trekked over to K-Town to meet Aunt Missy, Uncle Jared, Luke, Matt, Nate, Jake and my cousins Larissa and Shane. Here's Nathan mauling Gramps when we got there.
They could barely contain their excitement when they saw me. (Okay, not really. They were practically mowing over each other to get at Gramps and Grams. They didn't really even notice the rest of us. And that's the truth.)
Here's Jacob. He's Hilarious!

Gramps, Nate and Jackles. We're into funny T's in this fam. Nathan's says "Prince Charming" (totally true) and Jack's is the "Dude, Your Girlfriend Keeps Checking Me Out" (also true, but not in the way you think). Anyway, do you think these guys like the Gramps? Methinks so.
Missy and three of the five ornery boyz. Nathan and Jack were still competing for Gramps.
Look at those roly poly legs. Don't you just wanna pick him up and squeeze him? I do. And I did.
Goofin' around.
Jack and the turtle.
And that's a wrap, folks. Stay tuned cause we've got some official news coming up (and no, we're not expecting)!

Thanks, Johnny, Kimi and Nate!

Our friends (who I didn't even get to talk to the other day when I saw them; lucky them) sent us a couple shirts via the Nanci Speedy Delivery Service the other day. Jack wore this one to daycare today, so we thought we'd take a quick snappy for the blog. The shirt says: "Barack Obama Is My Homeboy."
Thanks, Canfield Fam!

Slow On The Updates

Here are a couple more photos to tide you over until we have some time to update this sucker here soon. Probably in the next couple days...

So stinkin' cute.

Just Jack

I have a million updates to do, but thought I'd offer this one up to convince y'all that this blog is still existent and all. Just been occupado a bit with a little project.

Three Words: BIG. BOY. BED.

We've been doing some mid-summer cleaning and decided the spare bed needed to get out of the guest room to make room for other stuff. We talked to Jack about sleeping on a big boy bed and when given the choice between his crib and the big boy bed, he chose the bed. We were mega-worried when we put him to bed tonight but made sure he was extremely tired before we headed to his room. He laid right down and didn't fuss once. I did turn his turtle on (it makes stars on the ceiling; Heidi and Tori know what I'm talkin' bout) and he watched the stars to fall asleep. We were beside ourselves with worry tonight and it might be a long night checking on him all the time. We'll see...
We were cheesing while Mommy put the jammers on him. His shirt is from uncle Jake. It reads: "Dude! Your Girlfriend Keeps Checking Me Out!" Classy.
Hanging out, bein' a cowboy on his big boy bed.
He just started getting that whole say-cheese-and-mug-for-the-camera thang.
You can just hear him saying 'cheese', cantcha?

A Very Timely 4th Of July Post

Okay, I'm aware that these pix are kinda small, but for the sake of time, I had to post them this way 'cuz there are so many. If you want to see any of them closer, just click on them. Above, Matt teaches Peyton and Jackles the ninja art of lawn croquet. They were very good students and there was only one injury: when Jack winged his mallet around and smacked himself in his shoulder. No tears were shed.
This is our cousin Sabrina. She's completely adorb, no? She is my cousin Josh's daughter.
Again, Mr. Miyagi with his students.
The crew at Grandma V's house. On the left is my Broseph. He's 30 now. Poor guy. He has no idea yet what he's in for.
My dad appears as though he's being pushy, but he would never do that. He must be showin' off his guns. Yeah, that's it.
This is Sarah. We took photos of each other taking pictures of each other. 'Cuz we're awesome.
This is Grace, Sabrina's sister. She's sweet.
Peyton and Jack playing by Uncle Keith-er Sutherland and Grammy Tami. I bet you 100 million dollars Keith was saying something weird or gross or funny. It's kinda his 'thang'.
Jack got plenty of fluids. Fear not.
Ryan is obsessed with fireworks. He and I are not alike in that way.

Jack loved the snap pops. For about 30 seconds then he got distracted.
Julie and Grace. Geez, Jules, ix-nay on the ile-smay.
Jack and Tori await the fireworks show.
Grandma Elaine got Jack's attention for a moment. And it didn't even require candy! She's amazing!
Joe and Sarah. He's old. She's not. You do the math.

Joe and Jack. He's very old compared to Jack. But a little less mature... tee hee! (Just kidding. Joe's rad. He really is, but he needs and deserves as much crap as possible...always.)
The crew from the night. Stay tuned for photos of the cheeser contest.
Julie and Jack were BFF's that night. When she disappeared after fireworks, Jack was running around saying "where Juey go?" for quite a while. Even on the way back to Granny Janny's.
A little Sierra Mist Free never hurt anyone. (Okay, I don't know how accurate that statement is. I have no proof at all, but I assume it's never really hurt anyone SERIOUSLY at least. I'll look into it, k?)
Where Juey go? She's right there! I played volleyball with her that day and we got to play three games in the double elimination tourney. You do the math. (We lost 'cuz we kinda drank a little bit. Don't tell our moms...cuz they already know...it would be pointless and a waste of YOUR time.)

I love this pic of Jack and Peytunia enjoying the fireworks on the blankie. Culbertson has the best fireworks show ev. Hands down. No if's, and's or but's about it. Don't argue this point with me. You will lose.
See, here's proof. Nanna nanna boo boo.
Jack at Granny Janny's house. Sometimes you've just gotta stop and smell the daylilies.
Jack and Hank were BFF's too. In fact, if he didn't know where Hank was at all times, may Lawd have mercy. Seriously. It was whack. We stayed at Rick's house and got the royal treatment with our own master bed and bath. We're special I guess.
Hathead McGee during an introspective moment at Rick's house that weekend. Jack's parents (me and Amy for those of you not paying attention) celebrated our 5th anniversary on the 5th of July...with a 5th of Jack (that last part is a lie). We had a great weekend, much like the last five years, and Granny Janny even watched Jack while we went to a movie. And at the risk of going all Ebert and Roeper on ya, "Wanted" was pretty good. In case you wondered.
