Busy Week 1: An Ella And An Elephant

This is our good friend, Ella (ella...eh...eh...eh; sing it with me, Rihanna fans). She and her mama, Sara, joined Amy and me for lunch on Tuesday. Jack's mom made the very most of her spring break week, having company or going somewhere almost every day! Anyhootie, Ella is a hoot and we can't wait to meet her little sis in a couple months!
Later that day, Mommy and Jack went to the circus to see about joining (ha ha!). They went with Sean, Ryan and Melissa but unfortch we have no pix of those three. Here are a bunch of photos of Mommy and Jack hammin' it up:
Yikes.
What a good time.
Jack adored the circus. Shown here are a bunch of peeps and horses. Not sure why I chose this photo. Whatev.
Kisses from Mommy. (Thanks, Melissa, for photographing for us!)
Cuteness on a cracker.
Eeeee...this is why I can't stand the circus. The acts make me anxious and nervous. I keep thinking one of these days, I'll be watching the circus and see someone die. No thanks.
I have no idea what is going on here.
Jack loved the elephant and kept waving to the lady riding it.

Presh Photo

I just thought that since this picture was the cutest I've taken in forev, it deserved it's own post.

Kind of self-indulgent behavior for a Sunday, no? Isn't he adorb?

Random Photos

Jack gets braver and braver all the time. I think he'll be thoroughly enjoying swimming lessons this summer again too...
Posing? In the tub? Not good.
We should have named him Seven. Wanna know why?
Because Seven ate Nine! Bwaahahahaha!
Tuckered out, and can you blame him? That guy he hangs with is exhausting.
Closeups!
Wow...the hair is good today... This picture has very little production value, but the hair is worth posting. It was hairlarious!
Gramps Jer and Uncle Jared stopped by and when they were leaving we noticed our ducks are back. Every year about this time, we get a visit from a couple ducks. This year, there were three! Jack and I gave chase with bread in tow, but they weren't too interested in staying close to us.
And off they go. Jack was hollering, "Ducks! Go! Shhhh!"
Hmmm...whaddayaknow...same calick...
And he got ahold of Mommy's fave fashion accessory: the doo-rag. What a cutie.

Getting Ready for Easter

The other day, I was getting cards for both of Jack's grandmas (both of which I forgot to wish 'happy birthday' to on here, so I'll do it jointly in a minute) and I got a free Easter bucket with the cards. We decorated it with the stickers that came with it the other day. I think he did a bang-up job with his stickers. What do you think?

Tag! I'm It!

I was tagged by Mindy, Sarah and Renee...

Here's how you play. Once you've been tagged you have to write a blog of ten weird, random things, facts or habits about yourself. At the end, you choose five people to be tagged, listing their names and why you chose them to be tagged. Don't forget to leave them a comment "You're it!" and tell them to read your blog. You can't tag the person who tagged you. Since you can't tag that person back, let her know when you've posted your blog so she can read your answers.

Ed's note: Okay, first off, this is just silly. Secondly, that's exactly why I love it! I am not feeling the best today; fighting off the stomach flu for the SECOND time this year. Puked my guts out last night after leaving work early. So, if my random notes about myself aren't life-alteringly Hilarious Duff, forgive.

1. My movie watching is pretty limited because I absolutely refuse to watch ANY movie with any of the following people starring: Meg Ryan, Melanie Griffith, Robin Williams, Jim Carrey, Mandy Moore, Jessica Simpson, Billy Bob Thornton, Russell Crowe, Renee Zellweger, Brittany Murphy, (since all her surgery left her looking emaciated and wonky-eyed), Kate Hudson, Salma Hayek, Owen Wilson and many others too numerous to list. I just don't have time to watch movies very much anymore, so I REALLY can't stand bad ones...

2. Ever since I was really little, I would 'cocoon' myself in my blanket when I go to bed. For years, I had to share a bed with Broseph, thus sharing covers, and would always freeze (a) because he hogged the covers or (b) because whenever you share covers with someone else, there's always that gap between you where all the cold air comes jutting in. What's the point of that?! So, ever since Amy and I moved in together, we tried sharing blankets for a while, but we'd both be severely uncomfortable, so we just went to having our own blankets. Now we both know neither one of us could go back to sharing a blanket! Oh, and sheets? Fuggetaboutit!

3. In my old age, I've become somewhat of a worrier. I worry about the dumbest things too, and my co-workers can attest to that. If I don't hear from Amy by 4:30, I get really nervous and start trying to reach her on her cell. If I can't get ahold of her, I start freaking out thinking something's happened to her. Actually, just typing this gives me heebs (either that or it's my stomach freaking out again). Another random fact, if I went through my phone and did an average on how many times I talk to her per day on the celly, it would be...oh, I'm guessing here...five or six...

4. I broke my nose several years ago being stupid (okay, it was at a party and I was doing the Karate Kid crane kick and accidentally knee'd myself in the schnozz; this after having my little ricegrinder car crunched when Otter tried to push it out of the mud with his truck, bless his little helpful heart). Now, whenever a picture is taken of me, I notice how it's kinda wonky. Weird how I don't notice it when I look in the mirror but photographs seem to capture it perfectly...

5. I have a problem with so-called authority. This may be apparent to those of you who really know me.

6. I always said I'd be perfectly happy if Amy and I had all boys, but I think we both kind of want a little girl too. And no, she is NOT pregnant. I can't stress that enough.

7. The only kids' books I can really stand to read are Dr. Seuss and a short list of others. There are some really mind-numbingly bad children's books out there. And I realize that reading ANYTHING to kids is wonderful and good for them and all, but sometimes I read these books and think, I could have written a book 60 times more fun and interesting than that! Anyone else feel that way?

8. Much like my sister-in-law and her mother, I am a stickler for grammar and spelling. I can literally spot a typo or wonky spelling from a mile away. And the weirdest part of that is that when I write stuff, revise it a billion times, then publish it, I'll come back later and see mistakes and get really PO'd. It drives me cray-cray!

9. Before we bought this little house, I didn't ever do ANY handiwork whatsoever. In fact, when Amy and I got married, she and her mother were worried that if anything broke down or needed fixin', we'd have to call a repairman every time. Happy to say I've proven them wrong, though they were totes right on at the time.

10. Knock on wood first ::knock knock:: I have never had a tooth cavity or broken bone. A billion stitches? Yes. A couple neuro disorders? Check. Near-death asthma probs? Yeppers.

I'm supposed to tag other people, but literally everyone I know with a blog has already been tagged and put their answers up, so forget it...I'm too late on this one.

Conserving Chocolate

I put his chocolate frosted donut on a lid Saturday morning. As he was finishing up, he made mighty sure he got every last bit of chocolate off the lid.
And yes, it was a gigantic mess...

Lovely Weekend Outside

Sun. So. Bright.
We went all over the yard, running, talking, playing. It was a blast I tell ya.
We pulled the slide out of the basement since it was so nice outside. Wheee!
He had some grass on his hands he wanted immediately removed.
Big boy...
Here he was trying to remove my shoes and I thought it would make for a funny pic. I was right (as per uszh).

Wonderful Weekend

We have lots of photos to share, but Blogger is being difficult. We'll post more later, but in the meantime here's a sneak peek: we were outside a lot again!

Dave Ja Vu Moves On

After trying out some other programs for my writing blog, I decided I liked another system better than ol' Blogger. My writing blog is now at the following address:

Hop on over and see exactly why I like it better. There's a new entry on there as well...

His Fave Word

This vid is pretty self-explanatory really, but I thought I'd mention that he actually said 'bye bye' after I turned the camera off. Foiled again! And I love how at about 22 seconds, he seems to just give up altogether.

New Blog!

I just wanted to announce that I have started a new blog strictly for my writing. I intend (and you know how that goes) to update it weekly with my take on different subjects, with jauntings from both the present and the past.

There are currently four posts on there but I hope to update with some older stuff a lot more this week to get more stuff on there. Enjoy, and leave me a comment!

Here is the UPDATED link: http://www.davejavu.wordpress.com

Great Weather = No Coats At The Park!

The park is a million times more fun this year now that Jack can run amok. So, with yesties lovely weather, we took the short trek over to the park to enjoy the madness! Here is the little man eyeing the guy with the camera through the tunnel.
At the top of the stairs.
Slides are the best!
I love the fact that the sun is such a huge part of some of these photos. After so many months of being cooped up inside, the sun is a welcome subject in our photos!
Taking the wheel. (Not literally. It was bolted on.)
Dad and Jack. BFF's.
We really enjoyed the slides and he was exhausted when we finally got home.
And he even did the slides himself several times. Here is Mom releasing her little stinker down the big slide.

And of course Dad and Jack being goofy as they came out of that slide.
Riding the bouncy duck.
Muscle Man Magee. (And the sun again. Yay!)
Swinging high. (I heart this photo!)
Big boy.

Great Weather = Ice Cream Messes

With great weather, out comes ice cream bars. Don't worry, it's Weight Watchers!
Maybe the couch wasn't the best spot.
Whatchu lookin' at?
Chocolate can make anyone smile. Espesch the already-smiley ones.
Aarrfmpfhh!
Now let's wash up a bit.
Oooohhh, I made a mess, huh?
All clean and playing a bit.
Whenever we get out of the bath we always make a stop at the mirror for Dad to marvel at his own funny faces. Weirdo. (BTW, Jack LOVES this part!) FYI - if you click on this photo, you'll see my boogers a little bit. Don't say you weren't warned!
Doing the sign for 'more'...I was dancing...

A New Little Friend

Proud papa Darrin and his little grumpy guy.
Isaiah, Daddy and Mommy -- three peas in a pod.
Last week, I told you about my friends Darrin and Mia getting a new son through adoption. Well, Jack and I went to visit Isaiah last week and I am proud to report that he's completely and absolutely adorable. Jack wouldn't get near him and certainly didn't appreciate his Daddy fawning all over this little newborn. He even earned himself a timeout while we were at their house! Just what everyone wants to endure with guests!
